PARTICLE is a software package for single-particle EM image processing. It provides an integrated computing environment with comprehensive data analysis and data visualization functions for particle selection, particle classification, 3D reconstruction, and model evaluation. Notable features of the package include a direct method for alignment-free 2D classification, streamlined RCT & tomographic reconstruction and intuitive Visual Scripting for high-throughput image processing.
PARTICLE has been designed for users with all levels of experience in image analysis: while an expert is able to fine-tune the procedure and parameters for an image-processing task, a novice can rely on the program itself for a proper setup. Moreover, PARTICLE can be utilized as an educational platform for students to learn and practice single-particle EM data processing.
PARTICLE runs on all major computer operating systems that include Linux, Mac OS and MS Windows. The package is developed and supported by I.A.N.
